Iranian oud player, singer, and composer Avin Ahmadi presents her debut EP Liminal live for the first time at Salam Music. At just 21, she is considered one of the most exciting new voices in the Austrian music scene. Born into an artistic family, she discovered her passion for the oud at an early age and went on to study at the conservatory in Tehran. After graduating, she moved to Vienna to further develop her musical career. She is currently studying jazz improvisation at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, collaborates with renowned musicians across various genres, and tours Europe successfully with her solo project.

Avin Ahmadi follows a narrative, emotional approach in her music and Liminal is no exception. Her creative process brings her deepest emotions, thoughts, and experiences to the surface. “Liminal, to me, means existing in the space between; between who I was and who I’m becoming; between the intimate act of creation and the vulnerability of it,” she says about her debut work.

Accompanied by her ensemble, Avin Ahmadi unfolds a sensitive yet powerful musical dialogue in which poetry, melody, and improvisation intertwine. Her music invites listeners to move between cultures and styles while gaining insight into the personal world of a remarkable young artist.
