The exhibition "Emotional Lands" explores the complexity of human emotions. With her Cannes award-winning short film AYYUR, Zineb Wakrim shows beauty in what is often seen as strange. Her protagonists are 14-year-old Hasna and Samad, so-called moonlight children who cannot tolerate sunlight. For them, art and painting are a means of resisting and capturing the light in the midst of their darkness.

Zineb Wakrim, born in 2001 in Casablanca, Morocco, is a trailblazing film director and screenwriter whose passion for art and cinema has shaped her into a promising figure in Moroccan cinema. With a background in applied arts and a diploma in directing from the School of Visual Arts in Marrakech, her films are a testament to her deep engagement with surrealist influences and a dedication to exploring themes of humanity, spirituality, and resilience.

Wakrim’s notable work, AYYUR, not only secured a prize at the Cannes Film Festival’s CINEF competition but also gained international acclaim, showcasing her originality and nuanced storytelling. Her inspiration draws from the complexities of human experience, influenced by cinematic greats like Andrei Tarkovsky and Michelangelo Antonioni. Recognized as one of Forbes Middle East's 30 Under 30 in 2023, Wakrim represents the vibrant potential of the new generation in Moroccan cinema, committed to creating films that offer both refuge and hope.

Born in 1957 in Salé, Morocco, the studied and multi-award-winning multi-instrumentalist and singer Majid Bekkas is an institution at the crossroads of jazz and African music.
